FriendSend privacy policy

Draft for later review against Google Play requirements.

This policy is not final. It deliberately makes no statements about data collection, storage or transfer that have not been confirmed. Do not rely on it, and do not submit it to Google Play, until every item under "Needs confirmation" is resolved.

About FriendSend

FriendSend is an Android application for sharing photos, videos and other supported media. It can optionally communicate with Rýchlik Desktop on a local network. It is free to download, includes five free sends, plans a one-time €1.99 unlock and shows no advertising.

Checked in the app package (release 1.0.0)

  • Declared Android permissions: Internet, network state, camera (to scan pairing QR codes; the camera is optional hardware) and Google Play Billing.
  • No permission to read photos, videos or files is declared; media reaches the app through the Android share menu.
  • The package contains Google Play Billing (for the one-time unlock), Google ML Kit barcode scanning and Google Play services components.
  • No Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or advertising SDK classes and no server addresses of its own were found in the package. This was a static check, not a complete audit.
  • According to the project documentation, the app keeps a device TLS identity, records of trusted computers and its send counter in app-private storage.

Needs confirmation before this policy is final

  • Which personal data, if any, the app or its components collect, and for what purpose
  • What data Google ML Kit, Google Play services and Google Play Billing process or transmit while the app runs
  • Whether any data leaves the device other than to the paired computer, and where it is sent
  • How purchases and purchase verification are handled once the unlock is available
  • How files are protected in transit and whether they are stored on either side after a transfer
  • Whether app data is meant to be included in Android backups
  • Retention and deletion of any data
  • Handling of children’s data and the intended audience
  • Whether the Google Play Data safety form matches this policy
  • The legal name and contact details of the publisher
